Portals Editions Showcase Maria W Horn + Mats Erlandsson + Roberto Crippa + TUUM

Maria w Horn is a Stockholm based composer oscillating between minimalist structures and piercing power electronics in order to manipulate time and space and invoke altered mental states by means of analog and digital synthesis, acoustic instrumentation, and audio-visual components. She is a part of Sthlm Drone Society - an association working to promote slow and gradually evolving timbral music, co-operates the label XKatedral, and is a member of the studio collective Dromfakulteten. Horn’s 2018 album ‘Kontrapoetik’ on Portals Editions / XKatedral is a counter-exorcism of the turmoiled history of her home region Ångermanland in the North of Sweden as well as output from an artistic research project in the form of a satanic feminist sect.

Mats Erlandsson is part of the vibrantly reemerging field of drone music in Stockholm, Sweden, as well as being a studio assistant at the world-renowned Electronic Music Studio (EMS). Erlandsson presents his work both as a solo artist and in collaborations, most notably together with Yair Elazar Glotman, performing together at this year’s The Long Now in Kraftwerk, and has previously released on Posh Isolation and Miasmah. His album ‘Hypodermic Letters’, recently released on Portals Editions, is a shimmering interplay of the extremely remote and the radically intimate, like light magically made audible, while in continuous disintegration, vascillating between the real and the illusory.

Roberto Crippa is a sound artist, musician and designer. Blending elements of music concrète, electronic composition, noise and drone music, Crippa's sonic practice functions as a self-contained universe that unnervingly transforms the physical surroundings of the listener into visceral and immersive aural landscapes. Using an ever evolving array of custom analogue oscillators, samplers and electroacoustic instruments, Crippa's performances both brutally and delicately sweep across the entire audible frequency range: from the lowest sub tones to the highest pitches, his work is rich in contrast as walls of sound awash with opaque noise and subterranean thrums collide with shimmering organic tones and sequenced sine wave constructions. He released his debut album “Reverse” on We Can Elude Control followed by "SELENIC" on Portals Editions in 2018 and "ASCENT" this year on Second Sleep.

TUUM is Brandon Rosenbluth, 1/2 of the shamanic electronics duo Shaddah Tuum and co-founder of Portals Editions. TUUM DJ sets are a total immersion in alternate realities of sound, body and mind. Psychonauts welcome.
