ORCHESTRA ELASTIQUE

Orchestra Elastique (OE) is a London-based music improvisation collective that comprises performers and multi-instrumentalists. The ongoing motif is to face music as a playground. Hailing from countries such as France, Portugal, Holland, England and Mexico, Orchestra Elastique fill this playground with instruments such as harp, accordion, trumpet, harmonium, piano, theremin, drums, percussion, electronics, vocals, cello, double bass, bagpipes and many, many more. The result is a form of music that takes influences from Minimalist Music, Free Jazz, Middle Eastern, South American, Krautrock, and various folkloric and tribal traditions.  Ranging from subtle dreams to explosive psychedelia, Orchestra Elastique’s performances elasticate mind, senses and spacetime...

OE is:

Joris Beets (delta harp, percussion and more), Antoine Gilleron (trumpet, vocals and more), Bruno Humberto (harmonium, synths and more), Philippe Lenzini (guitar), Nahum Mantra (theremin, electronics and more) and Tristan Shorr (drums, piano and more)

Last year Orchestra Elastique made the soundtrack for the motion picture “A Fallible Girl”, directed by Conrad Clark, premiered at at Rotterdam International Film Festival 2013. OE collaborated with the Lost Picture Show doing live scoring of films and will be doing a live score of the original version of King Kong at the Hackney Picture House in February.

WOVEN ENTITY

Formed by percussionists Lascelles Lascelle (Brand New Heavies, Beth Orton etc), Patrick Dawes (Groove Armada, Herbaliser etc) and improv drummer Paul May (Duke Garwood, Barkingside, Fourth Page etc) to explore improvised and semi-improvised spiritual grooves that skirt the boundaries of astral jazz, free improv, krautrock and lo-fi electronica. Now expanded to a quartet with the addition of bassist Peter Marsh, the band operates as a floating collective alongside various guests including saxophonists Julie Kjaer, Chris Williams (Led Bib), Alan Wilkinson, trumpeter Andy Knight, keyboardist Ben Cowen (Snorkel) and others. An album is expected this autumn.
