Mike Cooper & Pat Thomas
A British guitarist, now-resident in Rome - Mike Cooper has had a hand in a whole slew of modern music adventures in the last 30+years - from pure blues to free jazz, weirdly affective lapsteel/electronics hybrids and post-everything songforms that turn the whole new weird america thing on its ass. Mike recorded a fantastic duo record with Chris Abrahams of the Necks on Piano and we'll shortly be re-issuing his stellar tribute to the hawaiian shirt - Rayon Hula. For OpenFrame Mike teams up with long-time foil, Pat Thomas (Piano/Electronics/Tapes). Pat is a key player in London's free music scene with stints in Derek Bailey's Company Week back in the day, involvement with the London Improvisor's Orchestra and playing in a whole host of different configurations with the who's who of free music.

Steinbrüchel
Ralph Steinbrüchel's musical work deals mainly with the texture and atmosphere of sound. In the studio he works relentlessly creating new sounds that are then collected and arranged for live performance. The sounds you hear in his music form both intricate patterns and spacious landscapes, revealing his acute awareness for beauty. Steinbrüchel has released two discs for ROOM40 - Basis and Opaque - and has made plenty more for 12k, LINE, NonVisualObjects and his own label Synchron. This set will be played via a 4-speaker configuration. Nice!

Organ Octet
The organ octet is a loose assemblage of musicians kicking life and form into the humble reed organs of the 70s taking them out of the living room corner and onto the stage, sharing wave space with their fellows to create a shimmering, glowing halo of overtones. Transcendent stuff. An Octet LP will be out on ROOM40 in early 2010. Octet members include Dale Berning, Dominic Garwood, Carina Thoren, Luke Garwood, Matthew Nicholson, Alexander Tucker, John Chantler, Jodi Cave and Pascal Barbare. Lawrence English will also join the Octet for this set at Oto.
