Louis Moholo-Moholo is a South

African drummer who moved from South Africa to London in the early sixties with the group known as The Blue Notes, which included Mongezi Feza, Dudu Pukwana, Chris McGregor and Johnny Dyani. From that time, he played with dozens of ensembles – notably The Brotherhood of Breath – proving to be a master of all the styles, including free improvisation, be-bop, South African dance rhythms and much more. Recently he moved back to S.A. but is making one of his rare appearances in the U.K. on May the 8th in this new grouping.

Shabaka Hutchings is a young but already very highly rated reeds player, know for his work with Zed-U and with Seb Rochford.

David Leahy is a skilled bassist from New Zealand with previous experience with Louis and a regular playing and conducting role in the London Improvisers Orchestra.

Steve Beresford also plays piano in the LIO and in Evan Parker’s quartet Foxes Fox with Moholo and John Edwards

Alan Tomlinson has played trombone with Moholo and Beresford in the mammoth Dedication Orchestra, playing compositions by Louis’s comrades from the Blue Notes. Tomlinson is a hugely skilled and very funny performer.
