LE VOLUME COURBE

Le Volume Courbe (French for 'The Volume Curve') is the work of London based Charlotte Marionneau with friends and band : Mel Draisey, Chris Rotter, Theodore Hall, Barney Slater, Wildcat and Lascelle Lascelles. Inspired by the do-your-own-thing ethos of Nico, Patti Smith and Yoko Ono. After moving from France to London Charlotte Marionneau began composing and making tracks, receiving vital encouragement from musicians like Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval and David Roback, My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields and Colm O'Ciosoig, all of whom contributed to her record 'I Killed My Best Friend'. Most of which was recorded at home - a lo-fi punk record in attitude rather than in musical style. "A strange, otherworldly concoction of sounds filled with fragile vocals and haphazard guitars, flowing like an enchanting and elusive diary of dreams." (Forced Exposure)

Le Volume Courbe’s “Theodaurus Rex” EP was released through Pickpocket Records. It is the first release on the label formed by Le Volume Courbe’s leader and lynchpin Charlotte Marionneau with Kevin Shields. Unique, radical and rich with personality, Le Volume Courbe’s playful, powerful songs of innocence and intrigue are, once heard, not easily forgotten. It includes “I Love The Living You” (featuring Shields), “Born To Lie”, “Lazy”, and an interpretation of the Nico song “Le Petit Chevalier” – which Le Volume Courbe played at their first ever London gig: a Nico tribute show.
