Josephine Foster with Gyða Valtýsdóttir + Kaneng Lolang

No Longer Available

Josephine Foster makes a brief summer stopover at London with a concert drawing on her rich back catalogue accompanied by Icelandic cellist Gyða Valtýsdóttir. The pair have toured in the States together in the past and will open for Swans (!) on their upcoming Irish tour. This will be their first time performing together in London. Valtýsdóttir was a member of the icelandic dreampop group múm whilist still in her teens. The band had already released two albums, composed music for theater and dance and toured the world before Valtýsdóttir left the band to focus on her classical music studies.

JOSEPHINE FOSTER

Josephine Foster is easily one of our favourite singers and song writers. Captivating, daring, versatile and irreverent in her approach to subject and form. Her last record 'Blood Rushing' was on constant rotation here last year and it was an honour to have her here for two days last November performing those songs with a full band.

“Her gainly vibrato and fireside intimacy place her in the company of illustrious dames of Americana such as Buffy Sainte-Marie and composer Ruth Crawford Seeger. ‘She Sweeps With Many Coloured Brooms’ is pure Another Side Of Bob Dylan, harmonica interludes and all” – Rob Young/Uncut on Graphic As A Star

KANENG LOLANG

Kaneng Lolang grew between the cultures of Nigeria, Bulgaria and Russian-occupied Siberia, and so her sound weaves those influences with those of the ancient and modern. With the use of electric bass and vocals, her songs are as bare and primal as new born Love. One of the most incredibly visceral solo performances you're likely to witness.
