I’ve Seen That Face Before is a music and performance night, curated by singer-songwriter NiCKY and writer and editor Sean Burns. It is the third in a quarterly residency series showcasing an eclectic line-up of queer and avant-garde artists, all experimenting on the fringes of music, visual art and performance. Taking its name from the Grace Jones classic, the night draws on the organisers’ shared experiences of traversing the city’s nightlife hinterlands, bars and dancefloors.
Marnie Weber’s many-decade, multidisciplinary practice encompasses performance, film, sculpture, collage, painting, music and costuming. Weber creates uncanny worlds that exist in a realm between fantasy and reality, and invites viewers into an exploration of the subconscious. Weber has been the subject of several survey exhibitions internationally and has released numerous musical recordings, as well as a multitude of film works. Weber will play a rare live score to her most recent film, House of the Whispering Rose, and will also perform songs from her new album, Returning Home, as Rose Bloom, the lead character from the film.
A vital voice in London’s queer performance scene, NiCKY is known for their disarming, emotionally charged songwriting – part torch song, part bedroom synth fantasy. Recent work includes scores for Tomorrow Is Already Dead at Soho Theatre and The AIDS Plays Project at London Performance Studios. NiCKY has just been awarded PRS funding to create their self-titled debut album. Their EP, with, was released at Cafe OTO in 2025.

Samra Mayanja is a London-based artist, performer and writer. Her work examines the body’s illegibility and the absurdity of seeking what is inherently lost, ‘a clown-like pursuit of the impossible’. The theme of searching — futile yet hopeful — runs through Samra’s work. She has performed and exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries and theatres, including Somerset House, South London Gallery, Kampnagel and Transmediale, among others.

Sena is a Ghanaian-born, UK-based singer and creative artist with a background in classical and contemporary music. Sena’s sound draws from Afrobeats, soul, jazz and contemporary music, bringing together African and Western musical influences. With performance experience spanning Ghana and the UK, Sena is passionate about creating music that reflects individuality, cultural roots and diverse musical influences. Sena’s artistry explores the space between musical traditions, with a distinctive approach to performance and storytelling.
Jeffrey Hinton is a London-born DJ, producer and visual artist. Inspired by the world’s subcultures from a young age, Hinton has provided music and visuals for some of London’s most iconic clubs, including Circus, Cha Cha, Taboo, Anarchy, Daisy Chain, Heaven and countless more across London and internationally.
