HUNTSVILLE

Norway’s distinctive trio HUNTSVILLE produce a striking and original sound world from their rare instrumentation, an adventurous crossbreed of rock, drones, country, jazz and electro-acoustic improvisation. With unexpected sounds and textures, allied to echoes of traditional genres in a radical new conceptual language have been labelled abstract drone Americana and yoga country.

They will be launching their 4th album, Past Increasing Future Receding, out on Hubro in September. Recorded in Emanuel Vigeland’s Mausoleum in Oslo: a dimly lit – almost entirely dark – barrel-vaulted room with a 20 second acoustic delay, this is the group’s most atmospheric and monumental release so far.

Over the years Huntsville have collaborated with musicians such as Thurston Moore, Nels Cline & Glenn Kotche (Wilco) as well as Norwegian artists Sidsel Endresen and Hanne Hukkelberg.

"...they alternate between brief Americana-esque instrumentals and lengthier excursions into fast, fluid motion, attaining trance-velocity like some rare amalgam of Miles Davies, Steve Reich and early Tortoise." - ROCK-A-ROLLA
