holding hands is a new octet co-led by two Norwich musicians - trumpeter Chris Dowding and saxophonist Rob Milne. Divided equally between Norwich and London, the octet features some of the exciting improvisers in the UK, including saxophonist Dee Byrne, trombonist Raph Clarkson and tuba player Ben Higham.
The octet explores the relationship between the UK and the US, through orchestrated samples, as well as pieces by Chris and Rob, as well as contributions from other members. The music explores lush brass textures and post-minimalist vibraphone patterns, merged together by electronics by several of the group.

Rob Milne / tenor sax & bass clarinet

This Arts Council tour will include a newly commissioned piece, 'Critical Time', with visuals made with a Norfolk school group. Support comes in the form of a set by WOOLFENDEN - the electronic duo of trumpeter Sarah Woolfenden and electronics musician Justin Harries.
Trumpet and electronics duo WOOLFENDEN mine the space between the experimental and the melodic.
Drawing from the microtonal flutters of Giacinto Scelsi, the drones of Eliane Radigue, and the melodic directness of Miles Davis, the sound of WOOLFENDEN is both pastoral and industrial, futuristic and ancient.
Formed in London in 2018 WOOLFENDEN have performed at Testbed1, The Betsey Trotwood, The Agency Gallery, The Garage (Norwich) and have been featured as part of Mopomoso TV.
