Sublime pairing of tribal percussionist Z'ev's ritualistic rhythms with the heavily overdriven organ of David Maranha. Together the pair create an intoxicating wave of sound using minimal means to create a full-spectrum music with maximum impact. They're joined by ex-pat American prepared piano player Erik Griswold and his own explorations of minimalism and immersion.

David Maranha was born in Figueira da Foz in 1969.

In 1986 he started to develop his work as a musician, both solo as with several bands. In 1989, with André Maranha, António Forte and Bernardo Devlin, he created “osso exótico”, a group that went through several formations and is currently composed by André Maranha, David Maranha, Francisco Tropa, Manuel Mota and Patrícia Machás. David has also collaborated in the projects “Organ Eye” with Patricia Machás, Torben Tilly and Jasmine Guffond; “Bowline” with Francesco Dillon; “Curia” with Manuel Mota, Margarida Garcia and Afonso Simões; and “Dru” with Manuel Mota and Riccardo Wanke.

David also collaborated with many musicians, such as Z’EV, Emmanuel Holterbach, Helena Espvall, Phill Niblock, Chris Corsano, Jochen Arbeit, Minit, David Daniell, Arnold Dreyblatt, Richard youngs, Jacob Kirkegaard, Carla Bozulich, Chris Cutler, Werner Durand, Robert Rutman, Ben Frost, Helge Sten, etc.

In parallel he works as an architect since 1993, creating public buildings as museums, schools, senior residences and cemeteries.

Z'EV / percussion

Z'EV performs intense ritualistic drum / sound / percussive mantras - conjuring up a maelstrom of elemental bliss - metal/air/wood meld into one. Z'EV has collaborated with many performers including collaborations with Genesis P-Orridge and PSYCHIC TV, during this period he was also initiated into Western Ceremonial and Ritual Practice, and involved with PSYCHIC TV'S - Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth.

Z'EV's work was also included in Konrad Becker's 1984 Ritual Opera for the Vienna Festival so expect a unique bewitching performance from Z'EV that will cast a spell of mesmerizing labyrinthine sounds, pulses and beats.

ERIK GRISWOLD / prepared piano

Eclectic Australian-American musician Erik Griswold fuses experimental, jazz and world music traditions to create works of striking originality. Specializing in prepared piano, percussion and toy instruments, he has created a musical universe all his own that is "sincere" (neural.it), "playful" (igloo magazine), "colourful and refreshingly unpretentious" (Paris Transatlantic). Griswold performs as a soloist, in Clocked Out Duo (with percussionist Vanessa Tomlinson), and collaborates with musicians from diverse backgrounds as well as visual artists, and writers.
