Two intimate shows from the electronic composer Charles Cohen, alongside the performer/label-head who has recently helped to launch him into the public consciousness again, Rabih Beaini.
CHARLES COHEN
Charles Cohen is a Philadelphia based Synth-improvisor and experimental composer, active since 1971, who has become synonymous with the extremely limited Buchla Music Easel synthesiser, an instrument of rare expressive quality. Experimental yet accessible, Cohen's work combines the energy and rhythms of free-jazz with the sonic possibilities of an electronic instrument.
RABIH BEAINI
Rabih Beaini AKA Morphosis, is one of the leading contemporary producers and DJs of adventurous electronic music. As curator of the Morphine imprint, he's recently released an essential 3-part anthology of Cohen's work, alongside releases by the likes of Hieroglyphic Being, Metasplice and Madteo. He's also released a solo LP, 'Albidaya', under his own name, which evoked echoes of Sun Ra and Alice Coltrane, in addition to the influences of his Lebanese upbringing. This will be a rare opportunity to see a live performance under his own name.
