Be Prepared for...
LOSCIL
Loscil is Vancouver's Scott Morgan, who has been making albums of beautiful ambient electronica for labels including Kranky for over a decade. The gentle ebb and flow of the music is permeated with a kind of autumnal sadness, and sometimes a sense of foreboding. This will be the second time Scott has played for Be Prepared, following a sold out show at OTO in March. On this tour he will be collaborating with pianist Jason Zumpano, who will be making use of the venue's grand piano for this show only.
"Loscil practices the art of the aural womb. This is music without sharp edges. The synth textures are warm, deep and viscous as amniotic fluid." - Pitchfork
"Massive abstract shapes serenely, quietly cut across rippling rhythmic patterns, distant fog horn like sonorities ricocheting across the bay with the noirish, North Western elegance of a Badalamenti theme for Twin Peaks." - boomkat.com
FIELDHEAD
On last year's album 'A Correction', Fieldhead's Paul Elam adds a nostalgic crackle to his pretty pastoral loop-based electronica.
DYNOOO
A genius tape on Astro:Dynamics shows the Belgian's gift for melding modern bass forms with John Carpenter-esque atmospheric synth.
