No Longer Available

Alexander Hawkins / piano

Alexander Hawkins is widely recognised as one of the UK’s most innovative and imaginative pianists and composer. He is self-taught with a great love and deep knowledge of the jazz tradition which he brings, along with classical references, to his compositions and performance.

The Trio formed in 2012, and released its debut album in 2015, a masterful combination of freedom and structure, composition and improvisation.

Alexander has worked with Anthony Braxton in a number of his projects and 2018 the Trio performed with him in London, on Braxton’s Standards. In early January 2020 the Quartet toured Europe, recording each performance, and releasing the monumental 13CD live box set Anthony Braxton Quartet (Standards). The Trio is also the core of John Surman’s quartet.

"Sounds like all the future jazz you might imagine without ever being able to conceive of the details" – The Guardian

”Oxford, UK native Alexander Hawkins continues to chart a course that will inevitably place him in the creative category of pianist/composers of the caliber of Cecil Taylor and Andrew Hill” – Allaboutjazz
