Isambard Khroustaliov is the solo alias of Sam Britton from the electronic group Icarus. He’s recorded and released music for a number of independent electronic music labels in the UK and the US (Output Recordings, Temporary Residence, Domino and The Leaf Label). After studying electronic music and composition at IRCAM in Paris he’s currently researching a PhD in composition under Richard Barrett at Brunel University.
Dominic Lash is active in musical genres from jazz to funk to rock. Free improvisation is his central focus. He's performed internationally with Evan Parker, Tony Conrad, Gannets, Taylor Ho Bynum, Mark Sanders, Steve Reid Beck... His work has been broadcast on BBC Radios 1 and 3 and Germany's SWR2. Dominic also plays a major role in Oxford Improvisers.
As recent graduates from the Royal Academy of Music, this ensemble is setting out to explore the ever blurring boundaries at the edge of contemporary classical music. This initiative has often taken them to perform their programs away from a conventional classical environment, recently St. Banabus', Soho, and the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern. Repertoire ranges from classical staples such as Webern, Kurtág and Xenakis, through to literal contemporary composers Jonathan Cole, Sir Peter Maxwell Davis, Kaija Saariaho and John Zorn, to performance art by Fluxus artists Larry Miller and Yoko Ono, and on to experimental, free improvised and electronic quasi-genreless idioms.
