Erin Robinson is a computational artist and researcher whose practice explores eroticism through technological mediation, with a particular fascination for the uncanny and obscene underside of digital culture. Working across computational media and installation, her work investigates the desire to encounter what ordinarily remains inaccessible, from the nonhuman worlds of machine perception to the buried pornographic histories of the internet. Frequently using her own body as experimental material, Robinson pushes generative systems towards excess and disintegration, producing images in which the human figure becomes porous and increasingly entangled with nonhuman forms. Drawing on psychoanalysis and philosophies of eroticism, her research examines the desires that animate technological images, and the possibilities of dissolution and transformation that emerge through encounters with the synthetic other.
Her installation XXX Machina received an Award of Distinction at Prix Ars Electronica 2025 in the category Artificial Life & Intelligence. Her work has been exhibited at Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz as part of the Ars Electronica Festival, Krupa Art Foundation in Wrocław, Kulturværftet in Helsingør, the Chaos Communication Congress in Hamburg and Islington Museum in London, with live work presented at the Southbank Centre and Cafe OTO. She is currently a PhD researcher at the University of York.
