YO ZUSHI
Described by Mary Anne Hobbs (Radio One) as "the spirit of Bob Dylan for the 21st Century", lofi folk hero Yo Zushi has already released two highly acclaimed CD albums on Pointy Records (home to the Clientele, Tim Ten Yen, Flotation Toy Warning and Ladybug Transistor). According to London's Metro newspaper, his "lucid tales of alcohol-fuzzled intrigue" exude "a warm melancholia"; Steve Lamacq (Radio Two) calls him a "raw, intriguing talent". Q Magazine, who gave his 2005 debut, Songs From A Dazzling Drift (2005) a **** review, likens him to a "Richard Hawley with knowing winks", and predicts that "this could be the start of something major". Dazed & Confused hails his music as "a masterclass in storytelling", and Word praises his "perfectly constructed lyricism". Zushi has supported the likes of Joanna Newsom, Willy Mason, Scritti Politti, Rachel Unthank, Patrick Wolf, the Magic Numbers and many others. This event marks the launch of his limited edition cassette album, Jangadeiros, which will be released in Italy by Best Kept Secret Tape Label in late February 2009.

JOANNE ROBERTSON
Fine artist and musician Joanne Robertson released her dark and ponderous debut album, The Lighter, on Textile Records last year. Think Cat Power meets Scout Niblett with Jandek chords! Writes conceptual artist Martin Creed: “Robertson flows like a river. She wears her heart on her sleeve and paints and sings directly from it. She is a natural. I would like to be more like her.”
