Times : 8pm

TAXI VAL MENTEK

Multimedia hipsters Taxi Val Mentek, a Swiss duo comprising Dominik Scherrer and Christoph Hefti are, are back from the art galleries to confront audiences with a new show: an exhilarating interaction of video art and Electro Surf Sound. Assorted high- and low-tech and fragments of electronic experimentation in combination with a swinging live band create a complex film-soundtrack-like sonic universe. Working in the fields of music, film and fashion (Christoph is a member of Dries Van Noten’s creative team, Dominic composed the score for hit TV series Primeval), together they present unique, frivolous electro-vaudeville art-pop.

" The dementedly brilliant Taxi Val Mentek are utterly original. Drawing on their daytime jobs as fashion designer and film score composer, the Swiss duo combine to make an outrageous piece of high-camp musical theatre (... ) do not, under any circumstances, pass up a chance to see their terrific live show" Resonance FM

JACK SHIRT

London based composer, recording artist and occasional lyricist/vocalist, Jack Shirt (aka Christos Fanaras) has self-released two CDR albums on his DIY label Scratch My Back Records, the eponymous Jack Shirt in January 2008 and Silent Beef in January 2009. He is also a member of the Mothlite live band (Southern Records) and has performed and recorded as a bassist with Elsa Drake and as a singer, guitarist and drummer with The Thinking People Society. With TTPS he also recorded the Paid For With Tips album in 2005. He gives regular ramshackle performances of his recorded material at various London venues.

"a fantastic collage of everything in the artist's head, all tumbling out and wired-up wrong. This is an album steeped in the experimentalism of Krautrock and really fucked-up folksike, the sorta thing that would get a release in the mid-70s, leaving everyone completely confused, later to become something of a cult classic" ELECTRIC ROULETTE

"a not so healthy dosage of nonsense" SONIC DICE

BOYCOTT COCA-COLA EXPERIENCE

BCCE, aka Tim Siddall, is by turns a romantic poet, an environmental agit-prop bluesman and a subversive comic. He has an uncanny ability to grab an audience from the get-go, drawing them into an intimate, surreal world comprising sex, history, green politics and chickpeas.

"By the time the Boycott Coca-Cola Experience steps up, the boat is packed. A tall, regal man with an upper lip so stiff it is incapable of movement, he performs songs that mostly consist of long imaginary arguments with people about where electricity comes from. "This guy's a genius," says Pete Molinari, who is the last person I would expect to appreciate such esoteric streams of consciousness". Will Hodgkinson - The Guardian

THE NOBODIES

Arch miserablists The Nobodies perform songs about relationship break-up, with laughs. A vehicle for Arts Foundation Award 2009 short-listed singer/songwriter Robert Storey (Orchestre Murphy, I am a Kamura) the group sing songs from their up-coming Bob Drake-produced album "Cup Of Tea" , a suite of "cheap tavern songs" about divorce, the current "Winter of Discontent" and existential ennui. Storey trades droll asides with female vocalist Rachel Gardner about Kremlinology, heartbreak and power games, to great poetic effect.

"The Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone De Beauvoir des nos jours.... tragic, haunting and very funny". Resonance Radio

DJ CHRIS CORNETTO

Cornetto has a thirty year history of making music with groups as heterogeneous as The Native Hipsters, Murphy Variations, Grateful Dub, and Charles Hayward. He is also a peerless disc jockey.

"As Cornetto and I crouched in the wings of the Wigmore Hall clutching our Telecaster guitars we were perfectly aware that our fate would be to suffer a torrent of critical abuse from the claque that had aggregated in those prestigious environs. What we did not anticipate was the murderous physical attack that followed our rendition of Henry Purcell's Fantasia no. 7". The Memoirs of His Grace The Earl of Killorglin.
