Standon Calling presents a showcase of the creative, literary and theatrical talent that will be appearing at the award winning festival 31st July - 2nd August, Hertfordshire.
The Bookclub Boutique
The Book Club Boutique is London’s newest literary salon and Soho’s only free weekly spoken-word book club. It was created by the notorious poet and raconteur Salena Godden and her partner-in-crime Rachel Raynor. The salon brings poets, authors and book lovers together to hear new and established writers, spoken word acts, and eclectic music in an informal speakeasy environment.
Heritage Arts
The Heritage Arts Company use inspired, interactive, experimental theatre and art projects that play to all of your senses. Their team of designers, directors and performers have worked with Punchdrunk, Kneehigh and The National Theatre. Fresh from an aclaimed week long series of installations and performances at Shunt, Heritage Arts will preview their space-driven material for Standon Calling 09.
Craig Taylor 'One Million Tiny Plays about Britain'
Craig Taylor performs selections from his new book 'One Million Tiny Plays about Britain' (as seen in his weekly column in the Guardian Weekend Magazine). In these Laugh-out-loud funny and sometimes heartbreakingly moving snippets of overheard conversations from across the country, Craig Taylor captures the state we're in with humour, pathos and perfect timing.

Following on from a performance at Cell Project Space and in advance of their Standon Calling appearance we present Swiss experimental freeform glitch hop band GB. Influences come from live electronic music and lo-fi rock with an emphasis on live performance.
