OPEN Dalston presents “Our Olympic Legacy” showcasing the work of three Dalston artists living and working in Hackney all concerned with regeneration and its impact on local people.
Local film maker Winstan Whitter will be screening “Save Our Heritage” a documentary that chronicles the battle to save Dalston's heritage buildings, and particularly the Four Aces Club - one of London's most influential music venues.
Writer, filmmaker and psychogeographer Iain Sinclair will be describing the strange episode of the banning by Hackney Council of the launch of his new book, “Hackney, That Rose-Red Empire: A Confidential Report”, and he will be reading an extract from it.
Writer, broadcaster and Children's Laureate Michael Rosen will be performing his poem “Regeneration Blues” and other work.
The evening will conclude with a panel discussion led by local solicitor, campaigner and OPEN founder member Bill Parry-Davies.
