Traditional Indian/ Klezmer/ Experiment
The third night in a series run by the Asian Music Circuit, this time they collaborate with the Jewish Music Institute to present three performances:
Indian Classical Music:
Jyotsna Srikanth (violin) with mrindangam accompanist.
Jyotsna has been performing since she was nine. She is an exponent in the following genres: South Indian Classical (Carnatic), South & North Indian collaborations (Jugalbandi), Jazz – Fusion & Contemporary Indian. She will be playing a traditional Indian raag on the violin.
Klezmer Music:
London Klezmer Quartet:

Francesca Ter-Berg - Cello
The recently formed London Klezmer Quartet brings is a collaboration of four eclectic and renowned musicians from around London; who will be presenting to you traditional Jewish music from Eastern Europe, now known as 'klezmer'.
Featuring:
Ilana Cravitz is a klezmer fiddler, specialising in the celebratory repertoire that was played for hundreds of years by Jewish musicians in eastern Europe. She also plays the baroque violin and viola da gamba.
Based in London, Ilana regularly performs with klezmer bands and period instrument ensembles on stage and at weddings, bar mitzvahs and parties, as well as teaching classes, workshops and private students. She specialises in klezmer ceilidhs - Yiddish dance events with live traditional Jewish music.
Susi is a founder member of the She'Koyokh Klezmer Ensemble, winners of the International Jewish Music Competition 2008. She also plays regularly in War Horse at the New London Theatre.

Carol Isaacs has performed with Sinead O'Connor and the Indigo Girls and other international artists. She is an accomplished Accordionist and plays with Kavona as well as the London Klezmer Quartet and other collaborations.
Francesca Ter-Berg is a cellist based in London. She has spent the past few years studying and performing Traditional Jeiwsh music from Eastern Europe all across the globe. Her recent endevours have taken her to Germany, the Southbank and 10 Downing Street. She also has an active interest in Indian Classical and Arabic musical traditions, as well as theatre and film soundtracks - you can find her around London as part of various collaborations. Francesca works for the Jewish Music Institute on their Outreach program.
To finish the evening and as an exploration into the blending of the two genres, there will be an composed piece led by Camilo Tirado (tabla) and Francesca Ter-berg (cello), with Ewan Bleach (saxaphone) and an Indian vocalist
